Color
Different colors affect people in subtle but noticeable ways. As humans, we take psychological cues from the visual world around us. If you fill a room with violent tones, such as harsh reds, blaring oranges, or irritating yellows, you will create a space that makes people feel uncomfortable. Instead use soft, relaxing tones. Earthen colors such as browns or grays will give your family room a grounded sense, while light blues or greens will make it feel airy and lithe.
Clutter
People are more relaxed in a clean, neat, clutter free environment. It is a simple fact of human nature. As such you should strive to find a balance between decorative accessories and useless clutter. Make certain that you have plenty of room to stretch out and live within the space.
Light

It is kind of corny, but love is always the magic ingredient to make everything a little better. Go into your decorating tasks with passion, heart, and love, and they will always come out better.
